Oil Filled Transformer Monitoring
The Innovec DI2WP Loop Powered Process Indicator acts as a local read out unit for an oil filled transformer monitoring application in the power industry.
Protection and Monitoring Systems, a Hunter Valley company, supplies a data logger for the monitoring of fault gases in 33KV to 132KV oil filled transformers. The level of these gases gives an indication of the condition of the oil in these transformers. The logger monitors the transformer and regularly downloads its information by RS485 link to the plant's control system.
The data logger has no local indication but does have a 4-20mA output. This mA output can be configured to represent fault gas levels in the transformer. An Innovec DI2 in weatherproof enclosure is connected to this 4-20mA as a local display.
Using an Innovec DI2 loop powered indicator allows the user the convenience of a local display without requiring an additional power supply.
